What is a Zine?
A zine is a small-circulation, self-published work that's made by one person or a small group. Zines are hobbyist-created and typically based around a niche interest. They can be circulated either in person or online and can include a variety of creative materials, such as text, images, artwork, and found objects. The term "zine" is short for "fanzine", which is a blend of the words "fan" and "magazine".
This page showcases two standalone zines.

Empiropedia
Empiropedia is a fanzine structured as a compendium focused on the worldbuilding of Empires Season 1. The zine is divided into twelve sections, one for each empire.
All elements, from the core of the zine to contributor content, are formatted as in-universe artefacts discovered and compiled by an archivist. As such, each piece is labeled accurately according to citation guidelines.

SAFEGUARD: A Snowchester Fanzine
SAFEGUARD is a zine with an overarching narrative, detailing a married couple and their son living their lives in an isolationist, militaristic colony. With the threat of nuclear war on the horizon, the zine slowly transforms from safety and mundanity to fear, grief, and devastation as the background conflict eventually overtakes the family’s lives.

As an editor on the Empiropedia project, I created the credit design, formatted the written contributions, and helped develop the layout of the zine within InDesign. I was the sole editor of SAFEGUARD, and as such was the person to develop the core look of the zine, including its title page and credits design, as well as contributing to the look of the cover and endpapers.
